About The Indie Music Meetup

Having moved here from the east coast in the Summer of 2007 (and landing in this somewhat bizarre city of Glendale) I quickly realized that this whole Valley is dry -- in a sense that there doesn't seem to be much going on aside from the sports bars, big pick-up trucks, multiplexes, and shopping malls. Surely there's more to Phoenix than that?

From this frustration, the Indie Music Meetup was born.

I know there are a couple of other similar Meetups in the Valley, but I think the main focus of this group is to create a network where people can discover (and share) new music. In which case, I would have found out about Mew, The National, The Decemberists, and LCD Soundsystem a long time ago. I really would rather not go through the reviews in Alternative Press magazine by myself. [And neither should you!]

It's all about obscure music and making friends, n'est-ce pas?
